At the heart of the Greater Houston Council lies a steadfast commitment to supporting the sea services of the United States - the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine. Founded on the pillars of advocacy, education, and patriotism, our mission is to provide unwavering support and appreciation to the men and women who serve in these crucial branches of our nation's defense. We envision a community deeply connected and informed about the significance of sea power to our nation’s security and economic prosperity. Our efforts are dedicated to ensuring that the heroic endeavors of our sea services are recognized, valued, and supported by the community we serve.
Engagement and Support
Our council is actively involved in a range of initiatives designed to directly support the sea services and their personnel. This includes adopting and providing direct assistance to distinguished vessels like the USS Texas SSN-775, USS San Jacinto, and USS George H.W. Bush. We extend our support through various programs that enhance the morale and welfare of service members and their families. Beyond this, we play a pivotal role in educating the public and legislative bodies about the essential role of the sea services. Our initiatives also encompass supporting youth programs, such as the Sea Cadets, and offering scholarships, fostering the next generation's understanding and appreciation of maritime services and values.
